Juliette

My name is Aara. I'm a 23 year old University student currently residing in the small, albeit beautiful city of Singapore. I’m a reserved, sometimes crazy, determined perfectionist who has a strong passion for reading and writing. I adore SHINee, Grey's Anatomy and the ever-so-awesome Johnny Depp. Starbucks is my guilty pleasure.

Dear October

Saturday, October 1st, 2011 · Posted in General, Life

September was a very interesting month for me. It was busy, it was fun, it was memorable.

Early that month, I experienced my first moshpit concert with SHINee at the SHINee World Concert. It was, of course, nothing like the moshpits at rock concerts. There weren’t really any moshing. I didn’t get kicked, or slammed, or have beer splashed onto me. The moshpits at the SHINee World Concert were basically just free standing areas. I did get myself squashed against the barrier a couple of times, though. Yes, I was in the first row! It took no easy job to have the opportunity to be standing in the first row to enjoy the concert up-close, though. We queued for 3 days straight, took shifts to camp overnight, and also had to fight for our spots with a handful of queue-jumpers!

The concert was superbly amazing! The performance was top notch, and we had the chance to see the comical side of the boys while they ran around the stage during the encore, goofing around and playing with water. I managed to get a few interactions with them too! :D The exhaustion of queuing for 3 days and 2 nights miraculously vanished for a while there. Overall, it was an incredibly great night!

A few days after that was my convocation. The ceremony this year was held in a entirely different venue from the past years. I protested silently the first time I found out about the new venue, mostly because I am very much in love with the previous one, and have longed and waited to finally experience it. The previous venue was beautiful and grand; it was majestic. My negative thoughts about the new venue changed however, when the graduates were ushered into the hall at the start of the ceremony. The new hall was nowhere near “majestic”, but it was still beautiful. And seeing families and academic professors gathered together to celebrate our success – it was a magical feeling.

I was not the Valedictorian of my class, but I managed to rank first in my course. I went up the stage a second time to receive the award and a gorgeous bouquet of red roses. I will forever treasure the moment my name was announced. All of the sweat, blood and tears, the late nights, the frustrations, the super extra efforts; they were all worth it. :)

September was also the month in which the new 2011-2012 TV season started in the USA. Grey’s Anatomy premiered its eight season on September 22nd; the two-hour episode was heartbreaking, but hopeful. As much as I love the show, I have to admit that I have been having mixed feelings about its plotlines for the past few seasons. Some of them are really impressive, which is pretty much the reason why I still follow the show, but others are just downright bad. I miss the first three seasons so much! Seasons 1, 2 and 3 were the best seasons of the show, in my opinion. Their ratings were top notch, and they managed to win a handful of notable awards too.

I don’t really watch any other shows, with the exception of How I Met Your Mother. I used to follow Monk, Cold Case, Ghost Whisperer and Ugly Better religiously, but the last three got axed and cancelled, while Monk ended. :( I am aware of the new shows that have popped up, but none of them really interests me. Except for perhaps, Hart of Dixie. I haven’t really watched any of the episodes yet, but both Rachel Bilson and Jaime King are among the cast, so I might give it a try.

September also saw Jaime Bell joining the awesome-ness that is Twitter! His account has not been officially verified, but it is rather hard to deny the profile picture, and he has also been mentioned/tweeted many times by a handful of verified actors, namely Simon Pegg! The best part – he has kindly given two shout-outs to Jamie Bell Online, a fansite that I am currently maintaining with a friend, in addition to following the site’s twitter as well! :D

In a nutshell, September was extremely good to me. I look forward to what October will bring. :)

How was your September?
